Sample ballots for the June 5 primary will start going in the mail today, according to Stanislaus County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters Lee Lundrigan, and permanent absentee ballots are expected to go out starting Monday. About 55 percent of the county's 219,034 registered voters have signed up to vote permanently by mail or are in all-mail precincts. The deadline to register to vote in the primary is May 21.
