With such a low voter turnout, Butte County Election Officials are being quiet about how much it costs to run a polling place.

We called Shasta County Elections officials and they it costs about $1,500 to pay for staff, supplies, and cleanup.

But even though taxpayers are paying for those polls to be open, very few people turned out to vote. .

"You can't have opinion if you didn't vote," says Kelsey Dixon. "You know you hear people complain that measure didn't pass or people are doing this in politics but if you don't vote you don't have a say."

Bell Memorial Union Auditorium at Chico State, The Church of the Esplande, and the Chico Area Recreation of Park District Community Center were relatively empty.
