THE COUNTY
Registrar of Voters Elaine Ginnold and her elections staff won applause for a job well done on Election Day from county supervisors, but one official had few if any kind words for residents who didn't take the time to vote.
"I want to compliment Elaine Ginnold and the good work of her department," said board president Steve Kinsey. County Administrator Matthew Hymel also noted Ginnold's "incredible fairness and professionalism."
Supervisor Susan Adams, who placed fifth in her bid for Congress, noted many people didn't even vote in the election.
"They come to complain to us about how government works, but when they don't show up" to cast ballots "it's pretty disappointing," Adams said.
She urge colleagues to consider how the county can "engage" voters.
Ginnold said the latest tally of votes indicated about 48 percent of Marin's registered voters cast ballots, and predicted the number would grow a bit before all votes are counted.
