Title: Heads up - Election coming November 6
Date: October 17, 2007
November 6 is the date for the county special district elections to take place. Permanent absentee ballots and sample ballots have already been delivered to local mailboxes. In most of Southern Humboldt, the only item on the ballot is the race for the Second District representative on the county’s Harbor Commission. There are three candidates in this race; the incumbent Roy Curless, and challengers Carlos Quilez, and Steven Morris.
In addition to the Harbor Commission race, Shelter Cove voters will be selecting three members to sit on the Resort Improvement District Board. Incumbents Meeka Ferretta and Steve Mobley are facing challengers Roger Boedecker, Sean Finley, and David Paul.
Many voters will be voting by mail. Shelter Cove, Alderpoint, Myers Flat, and Weott voters will need to mail their ballots in time to get them to the Elections Office before 8 p.m. on November 6. Ballots may also be turned in at any polling place in the county.
Local polling places for non-mail or non-absent voters will be located at the BLM office on Shelter Cove Road, at the Healy Senior Center in Redway, at the New Wine Fellowship in the Evergreen Industrial Park in Garberville, and at the South Fork High School library in Miranda.
Voters should check their ballot for instructions on where and/or how to return their ballots. The last day to register for this election is Monday, October 22.
